• ICONIC SHOES BY FAMOUS ARCHITECTS AND DESIGNERS INSPIRED BY ARCHITECTONIC SHAPES
At first glance, it might seem that buildings and shoes don’t have much in common, but that would be far from the truth. The scale is obviously incomparably different, but the geometrical order, functional constructions and interrelation of masses lie at the heart of the design of either a shoe or a building. The designs collected in this volume are visionary interpretations of both disciplines. Many of them are provocatively radical and refreshingly experimental. Pushing the boundaries of traditional shoemaking, challenging technology and experimenting with proportions or materials seem to be extremely tempting not only for architects, but also for designers inspired by these creations. Architects can express their vision in a completely different scale and material, designers are fascinated by how architecture translates its language into an object of desire. In both cases the way the creative fields intertwine is highly inspirational.
